Summa, summa, summa time!! (summer time)
Check it. Just add Scott's Grass Seed and water!

All done. Inside/out. Notice the little strip of sod under the window on the left most side of the house. It's all I can afford. Hopefully it will decide to spread itself all over the yard.
Check out the temp walk way. Just until concrete is poured. Also, landscaping!
Gravel Driveway. One day it will be concrete/black top. One day...

March 05

Spring is on the way!! (...and the siding is not up yet!!!)
It's March and time has come for winter to pass. The house is FOR SALE!! The home hit the Multiple Listing Service this week and is officially "on the market"
The house is still not completely done. Biggest reason is weather. Until the ground thaws we won't have a driveway, sidewalks and final grade done. We stopped doing siding because of the cold. A house like this doesn't sell in winter. I would love to be proven wrong. Can you spot the back end of the TUV? Also, see my footprints from the house to where I walked to take the picture?

Happy Thanksgiving!

It's hard sometimes, but be thankful for all the blessings in your life.

It's stressful and trying to build a house, much less an entire subdivision, but my wife and I are thankful to have such opportunities. The plaster has been finished on the first floor and the basement and garage should be finished by this Tuesday. That's real progress! The cabinets are in and we are waiting for the flooring to be installed in the kitchen and baths so we can begin installing the cabinets. From there it's paint, carpet, trim and doors. We also have to address the final grading of the yard and putting in a driveway. Siding, gutters and garage doors should all be on in a couple weeks. It should be all ready to move in by Christmas!!! HOOORAAAAAAYY! We are locked in at 5.5% for our home loan, pretty good! Keep your fingers crossed we don't hit any more delays.

Getting Warmer!
It's getting warmer!! It's actually getting colder outside, given yesterday almost reached 70, and today it's in the 40's. No worries, City Wide Insulation has insulated the walls and Control Group is installing the furnace today! That should keep things nice and warm! Plus, the direct vent gas fireplace has been installed and framed. The 85 gal water heater is being delivered today as well. Next step, drywall. After a meeting with my financing team (made up of Prime Time Lending, Liberty Title, and Bank First National) we have the next draw ready to go. Time to shop! Drywall, carpet, tile, garage doors, interior doors, trim, paint, stain, hand rails, cabinets, counter tops, shelves, and so on and so forth. Siding is going up and should be completed soon. We are using Alcoa aluminum siding. Couldn't beat the price! (Thanks to Jim at Grasse Siding and Roofing) We completely blew our projected finish date of Nov 1. Blew it? We typhooned it! New date, Dec. 1. Wish us luck; snow is in the way...

Rain Delay

It's raining today so I decided to create a blog for this website. Pretty easy actually, maybe that's why everybody and their uncle has one. My uncle doesn't have one. None of them do.

We started building in July 07. We, meaning my older brother Matt Grasse and I. Matt is a liscensed contractor and has built many houses over the years. He's trying to get out of the house building game, but I keep pulling him back in!!!! I think, however, building this house has been a very happy and satisfying job for him, bringing him joy and a sense of inner peace.Eye-rolling

The framing is at the half way point. I think/hope. We ended up framing in an additoinal room in the basement dubed the "media room". This is in addition to the 4th bedroom, full bath and living room. HVAC/plumbing/electric rough ins have been started. Next we will be able to insulate. That should only take a day to complete. After that is done, hanging of the sheet rock and plaster. Should look very much like a house then! We'll be working on the siding/sofits in the mean time.
